What is Videography?

The process of capturing moving pictures or videos with the aid of electronic media like tape, hard drive, CD/DVD, Blu-ray, etc is called as Videography. This involves the art and process of shooting video in a way that imparts the desired message to the viewer.

To have a better understanding, we should know the difference between videography and cinematography. A videographer is a person who works in videography or video production, as opposed to film production. He/she may work solo or be associated with a small group. Similarly, a cinematographer (also known as the director of photography) is responsible for the camera and lighting crew on a movie or other production. He/she makes the lens choice, exposure, lighting, composition filters camera movement, and color-grading. In more simple terms, he/she will be in- charge for the motion picture photography. This means a cinematographer works with the film stocks and a videographer works with the videos.
